An Innovative In-Service Day

Recently, we had a great in-service training day for our teachers. Everyone worked hard and learned exciting new ways to inspire and educate the children in our care! This is a very special opportunity for our teachers to become students for a day. 

As a STEM school, our classrooms provide the environment and readily available materials that engage children and develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills they inherently possess. In the early childhood STEM classroom, Science is a way of Thinking, Technology and Engineering are ways of Doing, and math is a way of Measuring. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are woven into the fabric of the classroom, in both the environment and the children’s experiences. In this training, we specifically explored: 

• Introducing tools for thinking, doing, and measuring to enhance the learning environment to encourage creative thinking and problem-solving.
• Teacher-led STEM investigations that encourage interactions so children can explore and make connections.

In these ways, we look forward to enhancing every child’s classroom experience and to continue offering a quality education for all our little ones.
