Infant Classroom

Our classroom offers a warm, secure location where infants receive personal, individualized attention and care. The stimulating classroom environment helps form a foundation for later learning, offering three main focus areas.

Cozy Area

Reading books, telling stories, having conversations.

Exploration Area

Manipulating objects and interacting with materials.

Movement Area

Exploring balance, coordination, gross motor skills.

Approaches to Learning

The ability to solve problems, explore the world around them, become more independent.

Sample Activity: Rippling Ribbon

Milestone: Turns toward and tracks voices, people, and objects.

Desired Outcome: Infants develop the ability to pay attention and engage and interact with others, and with their environment.

Cognitive Development

The ability to think critically and creatively and understand their world.

Language Development

The ability to communicate effectively using sounds, expressions, body language, and finally, oral and written language; ability to understand and respond to the communication of others.

Sample Activity: Tube Talking

Milestone: Begins to coo using vowel sounds and other sounds consistent with the language spoken at home.

Desired Outcome: Infants develop the ability to communicate verbally.

Physical Development

The ability to coordinate and control large and small muscle movements; increasing awareness of health and safety concepts.

Social-Emotional Development

The ability to interact with others and their increasing awareness of themselves and their emotions; understanding of their relationships with others, such as family, friends, community members.
